COURSE OVERVIEW
The dual RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations and CPC30320 Certificate III in Concreting provides a trade level outcome for individuals working as skilled operators with civil construction plant, who apply a broad range of skills in varied work contexts, as well as undertaking concreting work on civil construction and subdivision projects.
This practical course is delivered mainly on the job, allowing participants to learn, gain, validate and improve their skills and knowledge in civil construction, plant operation and concreting.
The core units of competency in the qualification cover common skills for the civil construction industry, the concreting trade, and specialist units in operating plant and equipment and laying concrete for building and infrastructure projects.
This course is delivered by National Construction Training (NCT), a trading name of National Training Services Pty Ltd (RTO 21254).
DURATION
Training for these qualifications is conducted on the job over 19 months.

WHO IS IT FOR?
This qualification is suitable for those who are currently working in the civil construction industry as well as regularly undertaking concreting tasks. This qualification is also designed to assist concreters who are looking to become qualified in preparation for the introduction of new Victorian Building Authority trades registration requirements which have been approved by the Victorian Government.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no prerequisites, however you must be employed in a position undertaking civil construction plant operations and concreting tasks. This could be within the building and construction industry in in civil construction areas such as establish infrastrucure on land subdivision sites.
You should confirm having a valid White Card by selecting the option ‘Yes’ in ‘Vocational Education and Training Qualification History’ section of NTS Enrolment Application Form
TUITION FEES
National Training Services can access state government funding for these qualifications through the Victorian Skills First funding program. Participants who are eligible for Skills First funding will pay no tuition fees. If participants are not eligible for funding a fee may be required. See our Statement of Fees for details of the fee for service costs if you are not eligible for Skills First funding..
VICTORIAN SKILLS FIRST ELIGIBILITY
You may be eligible for Skills First Funding if you are:
an Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or a holder of an approved bridging, protection, safe haven or humanitarian visa; and
living in Victoria
enrolling in no more than 2 Skills First funded programs this year
To be awarded the RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations competency must be achieved in twenty (20) units of competency. These are comprised of:
Fifteen core units
Five elective units
To be awarded the CPC30320 Certificate III in Concreting competency must be achieved in twenty two (22) units of competency. These are comprised of:
Seventeen core units
Five elective units
There are 4 units common to both qualifications. This means the dual qualification can be achieved by completing a total of 38 units.
Learning and assessment materials are supplied by NTS and equipment is provided by the workplace.
There are 3 elective units that require specialized equipment. If this equipment is not available on the work site, training and assessment will be scheduled at our facility located in Truganina.
There will be a resource fee of $50 per student per plant to pay for the fuel to run the equipment. The charge only applies to any of the 3 elective units trained and assessed at Truganina.
The charge will be invoiced to the employer/sole trader prior to the plant training as payment will be required before a booking is made at Truganina.
The scheduled duration for training and assessment of this program is 17 months.
National Training Services has a one (1) month break in training and assessment each year which coincides with Christmas and New Year.
One (1) month will be added to the scheduled duration of this program for each Christmas / New Year break in training and assessment where applicable.
Depending on the program commencment date, the total time to complete this program will be extended by 1 or 2 months.
The total time to complete this program will be shown on your training plan and course schedule that will include applicable Christmas/New Year breaks.
Completion within the specified program duration is dependent on participants maintaining consistent attendance and submitting their assessments on time.
Please note there will normally be a period of 1 month following the submission of final assessments before the results are processed and the certification issued.
