COURSE OVERVIEW

The Certificate IV in Gas Supply Industry Operations provides participants with the practical skills and knowledge to supervise and conduct gas supply industry activities, including installation, diagnostics and maintenance of distribution and transmission gas pipelines, cylinders and associated equipment.

DURATION

The minimum duration for this program is 18 months.

WHO IS IT FOR

The Certificate IV in Gas Supply Industry Options is aimed at people employed as:

  • Field Supervisor
  • Mainlayer (if experienced and seeking career advancement)
  • Maintenance Crew Leader (if experienced and seeking career advancement)
  • Servicelayer (if experienced and seeking career advancement)
  • Systems Operations Supervisors
  • Welding Supervisors

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no prerequisites, however Kynekt Training Services recommends the following entry requirements:

 

  • Applicants who have previously completed Certificate III in Gas Supply Industry Operations and who have 4 years or more work experience in the gas supply or other resources and infrastructure industries such as civil construction, electricity, water and telecommunications and who are occupying or being developed to occupy supervisory job roles in the Gas Supply Industry.
  • Applicants who present a current employment requirement to complete the Certificate IV, supported in writing by their employer.

 

If you are new to the gas supply industry with no previous training or experience in resources and infrastructure industries you should consider the Certificate II in Gas Supply Industry Operations or seek employment as an Apprentice in the Gas Supply Industry.

TUITION FEES

Kynekt Training Services can access state government funding for this qualification through the Victorian Skills First funding program. Participants who are eligible for Skills First funding will pay no tuition fees. If participants are not eligible for funding a fee may be required.

VICTORIAN SKILLS FIRST ELIGIBILITY

Participants may be eligible for Skills First Funding if they are:

  • an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or New Zealand citizen
  • under 20 years old;

OR

  • over 20 years old and enrolling into a qualification higher than the highest qualification already held

CERTIFICATION

To be awarded the UEG40118 Certificate IV in Gas Supply Industry Operations competency must be demonstrated and achieved for a total of 1280 weighting points comprising of:

 

  • 290 core weighting points
  • 990 elective weighting points from the elective units

LEARNING

The learner material is industry based content. Kynekt Training Services has adapted the learning and assessment material by consulting with the industry and validating all assessments undertaken by students.

ASSESSMENT

  • Short answer knowledge questions
  • Practical demonstrations observed by the trainer
  • Workplace observations by the trainer

EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required when going on site, e.g., hard hat, high visibility vest, and safety glasses. A detailed list will be provided at enrolment.

 

It is also recommended to bring a notebook and pen to classes.

TRAINING LOCATIONS

Kynekt Training Services has training facilities located at 20 Industry Boulevard, Carrum Downs, Victoria 3201.

 

Training and assessment is also offered in the field via mobile training facilities where this is required.
