UEG30118 Certificate III in Gas Supply Industry Operations

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Certificate III in Gas Supply Industry Operations provides the practical skills and knowledge to conduct gas supply industry activities, including installation, maintenance, fault find and repair, operations of distribution and transmission gas pipelines, cylinders and associated equipment.

DURATION

The minimum duration for this program is 12 months.

The course is aimed at people employed as:

  • Mainlayer
  • Maintenance crew leader
  • Service layer

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no prerequisites, however Kynekt Training Services recommends the following entry requirements:

 

  • Applicants who previously completed Certificate II in Gas Supply Industry Operations and who have 3 or more months work experience in the gas supply or other resources and infrastructure industries such as civil construction, electricity, water and telecommunications; or
  • Applicants with 6 or more months work experience in the gas supply or other resources and infrastructure industries such as civil construction, electricity, water and telecommunications.

 

All students enrolled into this program are required to be currently employed in the Gas Supply Industry.

 

Applicants who have less than 3 months employment experience in the Gas Supply Industry may be enrolled into this qualification provided a training program with a larger volume of training and extended time for completion of assessments can be arranged.

 

If you are new to the gas supply industry with no previous training or experience in resources and infrastructure industries, you should consider the Certificate II in Gas Supply Industry Operations or seek employment as an Apprentice in the Gas Supply Industry.

TUITION FEES

Kynekt Training Services can access state government funding for this qualification through the Victorian Skills First funding program. Participants who are eligible for Skills First funding will pay no tuition fees. If participants are not eligible for funding a fee may be required, please contact NTS for details on fee for service costs.

VICTORIAN SKILLS FIRST ELIGIBILITY

National Training Services can access State government funding for this qualification through the Skills First funding program.

 

Participants may be eligible for Skills First Funding if they are:

  • an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or New Zealand citizen
  • under 20 years old;

OR

  • over 20 years old and enrolling into a qualification higher than the highest qualification already held

CERTIFICATION

To be awarded the UEG30118 Certificate III in Gas Supply Industry Operations competency must be demonstrated and achieved for a total of 960 weighting points comprising of:

 

  • 300 core weighting points
  • 660 elective weighting points from the elective units

UEG40118 Certificate IV in Gas Supply Industry Operations

 

Students who have successfully completed the Certificate III in Gas Supply Industry Operations will receive credit for units should they choose to enrol in the Certificate IV in Gas Supply Industry Operations qualifications

LEARNING

The learner material is industry based content. Kynekt Training Services has adapted the learning and assessment material by consulting with the industry and validating all assessments undertaken by students.

ASSESSMENT

  • Short answer knowledge questions
  • Practical demonstrations observed by the trainer
  • Workplace observations by the trainer

EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required when going on site, e.g., hard hat, high visibility vest, and safety glasses. A detailed list will be provided at enrolment.

 

It is also recommended to bring a notebook and pen to classes.

Kynekt Training Services has training facilities located at 20 Industry Boulevard, Carrum Downs, Victoria 3201.

 

Training and assessment is also offered in the field via mobile training facilities where this is required.
