UEG20118 Certificate II in Gas Supply Industry Operations


The Certificate II in Gas Supply Industry Operations provides participants with practical skills and knowledge for entry-level gas supply industry activities in transmission, distribution pipeline and cylinder operations and functions.

The minimum duration for this program is 4 – 6 months.


The course is aimed at people employed as:

  • Maintenance Assistant
  • Plant Operator
  • Service and Main Laying Assistant


    There are no prerequisites, however, Kynekt Training Services recommends the following entry requirements:


    • Applicants with 3 or more months work experience in the gas supply or other resources and infrastructure industries, such as civil construction, electricity, water, and telecommunications.
    • Applicants who are new to the Gas Supply Operations Industry provided they are employed or about to be employed and they are assessed for competence after a period of supervision on the job to develop their skills and knowledge to the required level.


    All students enrolled into this program are required to be employed in the Gas Supply Industry at the time of commencement within one month of commencement of the training program.


    If you have less than 3 months employment experience in the Gas Supply Industry, you may be enrolled into this qualification provided a training program with a larger volume of training and extended time for completion can be arranged.


    Kynekt Training Services can access state government funding for this qualification through the Victorian Skills First funding program. Participants who are eligible for Skills First funding will pay no tuition fees. If participants are not eligible for funding a fee may be required, please contact NTS for details on fee for service costs.


    Participants may be eligible for Skills First Funding if they are:

    • an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or New Zealand citizen
    • under 20 years old;


    • over 20 years old and enrolling into a qualification higher than the highest qualification already held

    To be awarded the UEG20118 Certificate II in Gas Supply Industry Operations competency must be demonstrated and achieved for a total of 360 weighting points comprising of:


    • 120 core weighting points
    • 240 elective weighting points from the elective units

    UEG30118 Certificate III in Gas Supply Industry Operations


    Students who have successfully completed the Certificate II in Gas Supply Industry Operations will receive credit for units should they choose to enrol in the Certificate III in Gas Supply Industry Operations qualifications


    The learner material is industry based content. Kynekt Training Services has adapted the learning and assessment material by consulting with the industry and validating all assessments undertaken by students.


    • Short answer knowledge questions
    • Practical demonstration observed by trainers
    • Workplace observations by the trainer


    Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required when going on site, e.g., hard hat, high visibility vest, and safety glasses. A detailed list will be provided at enrolment.


    It is also recommended to bring a notebook and pen to classes.

    Training and assessment is also offered in the field via mobile training facilities where this is required.
