The qualifications included in our ‘Construction Services’ sector are designed to meet the needs of builders and managers of small and medium-sized construction businesses and trade workers in carpentry formwork and concreters.
These practical courses are delivered by registered builders in a real or very closely simulated workplace or on the job environment. Learner outcomes include competence in common skills required for trades in the building and construction industry.
Building and Construction
After successfully completing the dual qualification, Certificate IV and Diploma of Building and Construction (Building), you will have gained the required knowledge to submit an application to become a registered builder in the class of Domestic Builder (Unlimited), with the Victorian Building Authority. Registration and Licensing of Building Trades
Recent amendments were made to the Building Act 1993 to:
- Provide the registration of building trade contractors and sub-contractors; and
- The licensing of building employees
A registration or a license will be required to perform certain building work which will be prescribed in building regulation (‘prescribed work’).
Priority areas of building work include:
- Carpenters (and framers)
- Footing and foundation workers
- Bricklayers and
- Water proofers

NTS offers Certificate III level qualifications to Carpenter (formworkers/falseworkers) and concreters to assist trade workers meet these registration and licensing requirements.
